MVLL Umpires

REGISTRATION FOR UMPIRING IN THE 2026 SEASON IS OPEN!  READ BELOW AND CLICK ON THE LINK AT THE END TO REGISTER BY FEBRUARY 13, 2026.

MVLL's Umpire Mentoring Program is a best-in-class opportunity for youths, league-age 12 and up, to develop leadership and communication skills and have fun learning about the sport from the perspective of the third team on the field - the umpires!

We treat this like a real job - umpires are expected to present themselves in a professional manner, schedule and arrive for their shifts on time, and make calls to the best of their ability, all within a learning environment designed to be supportive and empowering.

We provide plenty of ongoing training, and, of course, stylish shirts and hats that will be the envy of your peers.  The Umpdate, a weekly newsletter, keeps umpires up to date on important umpiring news during the season.    Umpires receive a stipend to cover their costs to participate in the program.

There are signup and training opportunities during Fall Ball (September through October) and during the Spring Season (March through June).  More experienced and capable umpires will get further opportunities to umpire playoff, championship, and even District 3 All Star tournament games.

Umpires must be age 12 by August 31, 2026 to participate.  Training sessions for the upcoming Spring 2026 season are scheduled for Saturday, February 28 (9 AM - 12 PM); Sunday, March 1 (1 PM - 4 PM); Saturday, March 7 (1 PM - 4 PM); and Sunday, March 8 (9 AM - 12 PM).  New umpires (those who have never worked a Spring season) must attend two sessions.  Returning umpires must attend one session.
