Pirates 4, Cubs 0 — On Tuesday at Boyle Buena Vista, the Pirates turned to pitchers Ty Cerne and Henry Edwards to bring home the trophy, and the two hurlers delivered.

Cerne threw two shutout innings, facing the minimum six over just 12 pitches — and was greatly aided by two outfield plays, the first a running grab by Roberto Santo Domingo, the second a stab of a line drive by Max Castellano, to snuff out any early Cubs hopes.

From there, Edwards pitched the final four innings, striking out nine and sealing the deal. The Cubs mustered just three hits. Edwards also went 3-for-3 to lead the Pirates offense.

For the Cubs, Alex Radics pitched well, striking out nine.

Padres 9, Giants 0 — Alex Moore threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout, and James Cerchiai  smacked two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Padres to the Boyle Cup final on Wednesday.

Nico Rocherolle and Trip Goldmacher had multi-hit games for the winners.

White Sox 3, Cardinals 2 -- Bradley Marshall threw three innings, striking out six, and his younger brother Davis closed it out in the sixth to lead the White Sox to the Boyle Cup final on Wednesday. Will Weir pitched two strong innings and also scored two runs for the winners. Miller Weir threw four innings for the Angels, and Liam Winn had two hits.

Pirates 5, Padres 2 — Henry Edwards struck out nine over the final three innings, and added two hits at the plate to lead the Pirates as they knocked off the top-seed Padres to advance to Tuesday’s City Championship.

Starting pitcher Ty Cerne only allowed one in three innings for the winners, while Luke Kneafsey went 3-for-3 with two doubles, and made two rally-snuffing defensive plays in left field. Lorcan Keane had two hits and two RBIs for the Bucs.

Cubs 5, Giants 4 — In a see-saw thriller, the Cubs walked it off with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to advance to Tuesday’s City Championship —after the Giants had plated three in the top of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead.

William Palmer drove in the winning run for the Cubs.

Alex Radics, Finn Reilly and Liam Garlick pitched well for the Cubs, while Terje Steele went 3 and 2/3 for the Giants.

Angels 5, Reds 1 — Gael O’Brien hit a bases-clearing double to lead the Angels’ rally in the fifth inning, and Thomas Strong closed the door on the mound with two scoreless innings. Ben Spring, Liam Winn and Leo Blacher each had two hits for the winners.
